Danube drought strips Hungary of 1,760 MW

Hungary’s Paks plant fell from 2,000 MW to roughly 240 MW as the Danube dropped, forcing factories to curb demand and pushing evening power prices near €270/MWh. Romania is also operating on borrowed time: military interventions gave Cernavoda’s last working reactor only four to five additional days, while Dacia and Ford halted production to protect household supplies.

Breaches can cost companies up to €15 million or 3% of global annual turnover.
