Four EU states seek €210bn Ukraine backing

Ukraine needs an estimated €90bn through 2027, far beyond the shrinking profits from Russia’s frozen reserves. Sweden, the Netherlands, Spain and Poland want the EU to explore loans backed by the €210bn principal, without confiscating it. Any plan must still secure unanimity, protect Belgium and Euroclear from legal exposure, and address Russian retaliation.
