US military access across Greenland awaits votes
A signed agreement would give US military aircraft standing rights to fly over and land across Greenland, alongside access for government vessels beneath its territorial waters. It takes effect only after the Danish and Greenlandic parliaments approve it. The boundaries of two new defence areas remain unsettled, and the text sets no troop numbers or timetable.

Perovskite panels reach full size
A Nanjing University team made 150 perovskite modules large enough for a solar farm, averaging 144 watts apiece. Its best panel reached 22.0% efficiency across its full footprint, and a new surface treatment slowed damage in accelerated heat and humidity tests. The next question is whether those gains hold outdoors long enough to compete with silicon.

Finland signs drone deal, production unverified
Finland and Ukraine have signed a defence agreement aimed at bringing Ukrainian-designed drones into Finnish factories. But the companies give different accounts of progress: General Cherry says its drones are already being made in Finland, while Patria calls joint production an objective for 2026. Neither has publicly identified a running joint line or explained the discrepancy.

284 donors map brain ageing’s uneven path
A cell-by-cell map of the prefrontal cortex gives researchers a way to judge whether a signal in an older brain reflects ordinary ageing or disease. Across 284 donors, cell populations settled through adulthood before changes reappeared mainly in glial and immune cells after about 60. A larger companion atlas can help identify which departures deserve further study.

EU drops two oligarchs, keeps 3,000 listed
The EU has removed Alisher Usmanov and Mikhail Fridman from its Russia sanctions list to secure a three-year extension for more than 3,000 others. Latvia and Estonia have imposed national restrictions, but those cannot restore the bloc-wide asset freeze. The exact start time of the EU removal and the scope of the Baltic measures remain unconfirmed.
