Ukraine’s €23.5bn gap outruns EU cash
Ukraine has exhausted its 2026 defence budget, leaving military salaries and weapons orders exposed even as Brussels approves billions in support. Only €8.35 billion of more than €22 billion in procurement plans had reached Kyiv by late July, while front-loading next year’s funds would merely shift the timetable rather than close the wider financing gap.

France will bring its pay-transparency bill to cabinet on 9 September, three months after missing the EU deadline. Until Parliament enacts it, applicants cannot demand salary ranges and employees cannot access sex-disaggregated pay averages—information designed to expose unjustified gaps and make France’s existing equal-pay protections easier to enforce.
